Today is a rather emotional day for our team at twist…today marks our third anniversary being at twist. Many of us remember our move in day or even before that to the actual early construction of this beautiful site. Some of you walked the construction site with us, toasting with a glass of our best champagne and looking ahead to…NOW. It has been three years of growth and development and, we’ve faced challenges and we have had many, many moments of education, innovation, inspiration and lots of celebrations! Simply stated, we are grateful for you and we truly would not be where we are without YOU and your support. We know you have many fine choices for your hair, spa and make up needs and we are grateful that you choose us. Our promise to you is to continue to strive to be the top professionals in our field, offering service that is above and beyond your expectation and always working to improve ourselves and think outsde of the box. We hope that you take time this week to celebrate with us as this is truly your celebration also. It’s hard to believe, but tomorrow, Friday, November 18, is our Winter Collection Runway Show and twist afer dark. You may ask, “why?” Creating and putting together collections based on what is hot and what is beautiful for Winter. Our team has truly out done themselves with this Collection; 17 models that will truly showcase twist’s uniqueness. We have had people ask what the purpose of this event is? The purpose reflects our mission and our commitment to you, our guests, to always stay inspired, passionate and bring our very best work to you everyday. Though we have a few avant-garde looks, the majority of these models are cut, colored and styled simply refecting the work we do everyday at twist. We hope you come to see the show, it is open to everyone) and know you will have fun watching our amazing models walk the runway the “twist way.” See you tomorrow…

Wine 101? At twist? Yep.

People often ask us where our name comes from? twist. It is safe to say that it is our mission to always be looking ahead, bringing new and different services, offerings, events to our guests; we like to “twist” it up, so to speak. In that fashion, we are proud to announce a new series of wine events here at twist. On the second Thursday of each month, that’s this Thursday, we are partnering with a different winery to offer, “Nibble and Sip.” Nibble and Sip is an opportunity to showcase different local wineries (we do have so many local favorites) in a fun, unique setting at twist. What we do is offer four to five different wine selections paired with some of the most delicious dishes around. Let me tell you, we had a “tasting” and WOW is really any foodie worth his/her weight could utter. The wine paired with dishes created by our own Piazza Bistro such as Roasted Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage Brown Butter Sauce, Prosciutto Wrapped Figs and Blue Cheese, Herb Roasted Pork Loin with Cranberry Chutney and Drizzled Chocolate Hazelnut Crepe is enough to make your mouth water, right? I mean these dishes are just perfectly paired with some of the best wine in the area. What could be better really then wine and food in a relaxed, fun atmosphere? That’s what we thought. So, get a few of your friends together and join us.

Back to School? Yep, it’s that time.

It’s hard to believe, but summer is coming to an end and school is right around the corner. Wow, we hope you have had a great summer. So, to help you make the transition into school, we are holding a first ever, BACK TO SCHOOL event. We have teenagers and we hear them and all the things they want, so we collected data (OFFICIALLY, of course) and we developed a list of services just for heading back to school; everything from haircuts to facials to Bling fingers and toes and more…And, we invited our friends from Divine Style & Soles to join us for a Trunk Show with all the hottest looks for Summer and Fall. I mean, after all, you certainly have to feel and look good to go and rock the school year. Ok, we have heard your requests about feathers. Everyone has them and you want one too. We know you count on us for the newest, coolest accessories, so you are wondering where have the feathers been. Feathers are cool and there are loads of great places you can get them, right? Well, recently our team went to a hair show in Las Vegas and the newest feather is actually jewelry for the hair. The are so very cool and once you have one feather in, you can take it out and change it yourself at home for other colors and styles of feathers. So, we do have them, and they are certainly HOT. Really?

It’s been said that we could actually have our own reality TV show…Yes, twist tv, so to speak. Some days I think that may be true. For instance, today, here we are preparing for our photo shoot tonight and it is truly like an art studio in here. Stylists are busy, passionately creating their SUMMER look, Lorie has make up all over the counter, blending and creating and we are, all the time, planning and getting excited for our Summer Launch. We know some people say, “It is very LA” of us…but we don’t agree. Afterall, look at how Paso has evolved. We may not be the fashion capital of the world, but we are up there as far as San Luis Obispo County, right? People in North County take care of themselves, love to look and feel great and want to know what is hip and hot. So, we make it our job to, not only know what is hot, but be responsible enough to bring it to you. In this spirit, we gathered eight weeks ago, and, this is where the reality TV part comes in, argued, brainstormed, loudly got our points across and developed a beautiful collection for you. This “Summer Collection” features four looks that we have created, cuts, color, styles and make up that are, not only HOT for Summer, but really are for everyone. Our photo shoot is tonight, but our Summer Collection Event and Runway Show is on Friday, June 24 at 6:00 pm here at twist. Of course, it wouldn’t be a twist event if we didn’t have drinks and appetizers. Every guest that attends gets to be “Entered to Win” our raffle, which we will draw that evening. The winner will get a complimentary Summer Look of their choice, that’s cut and color.

These are just not your average Mom’s

So, Mom’s nowadays are like super hero’s, right? We were sitting around the other day talking about Mom’s and how much we respect our Mom’s, our Mom friends, our grandmothers, aunts, sisters, friends…it is truly amazing and quite an honor to be a Mom, but sometimes we know that we forget to celebrate and thank our Mom’s. Moms around the world, we love you, we celebrate you and we treasure you. From the day to day, mundane tasks like making lunches, folding laundry, running kids around, being a professional, being a good friend, working…to changing diapers and changing the world one task at a time, we thank you all and we toast you. Have a wonderful, relaxing, feet up feeling appreciated kind of a day.

We love accessories, it’s true and Lorie just got back from LA where she stocked our Spring merchandise and there are some great items…Straw is big; in hats, bags, purses…we have an abundance of it. Also, what look isn’t accentuated with the perfect scarf? And another great thing? Inventory is priced at affordable rates, so you don’t have to break the bank just to have the most ideal accessory. You know some weeks are just more “blog worthy” than others and this week is for sure. The rain, the idea that next week is supposed to be beautiful and sunny, I am not sure, but I will take it. The team at twist is super inspired and excited by a new look called the Ombre Effect. Also, referred to as the “Root Look,” it is a color technique that ROCKS. The highlights are placed strategically around the ends of the hair and the roots are left or colored dark. The look is beautiful and a number of the hottest celebrities are rocking it including Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel, Lauren Conrad and Penelope Cruz just to name a few. The benefit is you don’t have to maintain the highights nearly as often. So, as you consider a new or slightly changed look for Spring and Summer, this is one you may want to think about. The results and the feedback on this look are just really positive. And, the cool thing about it is it can be created on just about any length of hair shoulder length or longer. Simply put, it is beautiful and “blog worthy.”
